Miss Paula from On a Rainy Night tagged me for this -
Book Meme 2...
Here are the rules:
1. Grab the book closest to you...NO cheating!
2. Open to page 123
3. Scroll down to 5th sentence.
4. Post text of next 3 sentences on blog-and name of book and author
Tag 3 people (that will be the hardest part!)
OK - the book closest to me was one from my book swap partner - Samantha (I haven't posted about my lovely package from her yet!!). It's The American Boy by Andrew Taylor.
"Though Mrs. Frant could not hear the words of their conversation, it was clear from his gestures that Mr. Frant was angry and that the other man was cowed by his anger. Mr. Frant came into the house and the other man walked rapidly away. Mrs. Frant asked her husband when he came up who the man had been."
Well, hmmm....very interesting. Wonder who the man is... guess I'll have to start this book soon. OK - who wants to play? If you're interested, I'll tag Jen B, Angie and Pam. OK, ladies? I'd love to know what any and all of you are reading anyway! So let me know - what's on YOUR nightstand?
Hi Jackie,
Thanks for playing along. Fun to see what everyone is reading. Can't wait to see your post about the book swap.

How fun!
On my nightstand is Zorro by Isabel Allende (Her book Paula is the only book that has ever really made me cry. Sob is a more accurate word.) Hope it's ok if I play along here - p. 153 6th sentence: "It seemed the last straw that her master would take a youth into the bosom of the family who did not have pure Spanish blood, and, if that weren't enough, one who had the brass to fall in love with Juliana."

love the new banner but i loved your old one too. i am afraid my book meme would be extremely dull. the closest book to me is the dictionary. proper spelling is very important :)

I love the new banner - love those eggs. From "The Stone Diaries" which I am currently reading: 'We nod in its direction, but keep our eyes on the flashpoint. The unfairness of this - that a single dramatic episode can shave the fine thistles from a woman's life. But then the world is bewitched by the possibility of suddden reversal, of blood, of the urgent need to reframe simple arrangements.' isn't is intriguing!
