As promised, here are a few pictures of my kitchen. I based most of my kitchen on pictures of a kitchen in Vermont that I found in a BHG Kitchens and Bathrooms magazine that I got a couple of years ago. I loved the colors and clean lines and openness of the kitchen in the magazine and tried to recreate that as much as I could with the kind of funky shaped space we had available.
Here's the before - it's hard to even remember when it was like this. The remodel and addition took 7 months by the contractor's estimates - I think it was more like 9, but who's counting...
Now in place of that , there's this. The cabinets are a great creamy color, the counters are soapstone and the floor is wood and I do love that new range...
an actual pantry - imagine that. I love these black cabinets, and that door to the right, that's where the sink and window were in the old kitchen.
and an eating area at last...we are eating together as a family much more often now - can't wait for fall to enjoy the fireplace. This part of the room had been the family room and the fireplace was already there, the architect fit it into the plans so nicely. Oh, and there is beadboard on that wall to the left, it looks really nice.
I really, really love it , it's the kitchen I had in my head all along and it's so wonderful to cook in, with counter space and cabinet space- it makes a huge difference. I loved to cook already, but this makes it even more fun.
Next time...family room and studio, but not for a while, I'm waiting for my new couch in the family room and the studio looks like something exploded in it, so those will have to wait...Happy Friday.
