When it comes to learning...I'm a bit obsessive - call me Marcia Brady (for those of you old enough to remember the episode of the Brady Bunch where Marcia starts High School and signs up for every club she seees) - I love to sign up for stuff. (Sometimes I do it and finish it, and sometimes, I don't). The last couple of months, though, I've done two classes (well, one is finishing and the other beginning) that I'm in love with and learning SO much from and actually using what I learn to make stuff - not sure what I'll do with all of it, but the process is fun and so often I don't enjoy the process, I just want to get to the finished product...
So, in the last post I showed you some of my metalsmithing attempts - I'm still working on lots of fun things for that class and will share them when they're ready...what I really need is some cool beads to finish these things and any suggestions on where to get cool beads would be appreciated - my local bead shop has a limited supply and is crazy pricey!
Last week the class - Of Towers and Turrets started. This one was a stretch for me - I had to paint. I wasn't even really sure what made me sign up for the class, except I've been a big fan of Deryn Mentock's jewelry for a long time. I haven't started the jewelry part yet (maybe this weekend since most of my family is gone to SLO), but I sucked it up and did the painting/mixed media part and it was SO FUN - we even carved our own window and word stamps!! I can't wait to make another one! So, here is my attempt...we'll use parts of it to go inside the bezels on the jewelry.
Enjoy your long weekend!
